can something be done about this? Has any of the people with "Admin" status been banning them, cause if they are from 1 IP address that should do the trick. Maybe make a email verification for the registrations..

Ender please put some admin activation or w/e we call it, like when someone registers an admin has to confirm it.

I've been removing 15-20 of these annoying posts every day, and they have only seemed to increase in frequency. Anything to quell them would be appreciated.

edit: My favorite one has to be 'Martha Stewart in anal action' though....

okay i'll put admin activation on for the moment.. pretty annoying these bots can pass the test where you have to retype these fuzzy letters...

They are definetely not from the same ip btw poop... they come from huge botnets of hacked computers so... different ip every time..

That's because I asked Ender to take the admin verification away for the duration of sign ups. We'll turn it back on later. I have deleted a lot of bots and their spam so far and help would be appreciated.

I've been deleting many of them too, but I can't delete the ones in the SRL forums. Isn't it possible to do e-mail registrations like Poop suggested? Or was this attempted already?

We will do that eventually but it's pretty impossible to tell who's bot and who's not. Once the important period of sign ups are over, then let's do it.

Although I didn't receive any mails about new members. My inbox wasn't full either. I have to look into it.

Well, I meant the type of e-mail registration that does not require admin approval. Basically, users register and then have to click a link in their inbox to become activated. Admin intervention isn't necessary.

Oh that. Yes, that would be a very good idea actually. I'll talk to Ender.

It's already enabled.

I posted this in IRC, with the admin verification there is a way to see which users are bots and which are not. Basically, you can go to the last page of the memberlist and check the email addresses provided by the users that register, usually, the bots have similiar email addresses which are obviously not real ones.

Well, it's still a lot of work to go through all the members. Much more than delete spam posts for a few days.
